Fleas Preparation Checklist

Flea treatment can be difficult without teamwork. We have prepared this checklist of things the customer needs to do to help the process be successful. We have found that when the customer follows these guidelines the treatments are more effective and control is achieved more quickly.

Pre treatment:

  • Vacuum your carpet and furniture, between custions, including under and in the furniture.
  • Discard vacuum cleaner bag and discard or wash pet bedding in warm to hot soapy water.
  • Sweep and mop floors, especially under beds, closets and baseboards. Wipe areas of pet activity with warm to hot soapy water. Flea eggs can slip off pets in any area, high or low, that the pet can go.
  • If pets sleep with you wash your bedding.
  • Cover your aquariums and unplug the air pumps.
  • Remove your pets’ food and water containers as well as litter boxes.
  • Remove all toys & clutter from your floor, and yard (if necessary). Exposed floor space is a key factor to colony elimination. IMPORTANT: The technician will be applying a very light misty spray over as much of the floor surface as possible, including under beds.
  • It may be necessary to have access to the sub-area (basement or crawl), garage and yard. Not usually.
  • Treat pets on the day of service if possible. We recommend using a veterinarian, “or” an Animal Hospital, (The same day as the home. This is very important!)
  • Keep all people and pets off the property for  a minimum of 2 hours after treatment.

After treatment is complete:

Do not clean carpet or floors with detergents or cleaners for at least two weeks. (detergents will neutralize the chemicals)

Continue to vacuum daily for a week. (remove vacuum contents to exterior trash container each time)

Repeat ALL preparations on the day prior to the follow-up treatment as well. This should be scheduled 14-21 days from initial treatment.

*An exterior treatment may be necessary as well. Our technician can advise what best fits your needs.
